How do I start microdosing?
A microdose of Psilocybin mushrooms can range between 50mg to 250mg. Our products fall within this range. To avoid the building up of tolerance to psilocybin, it’s important to always have resting days in your regime where you don’t take the microdose.
We’ll describe two of the most popular protocols which people follow.
1. James Fadiman’s system
This system involves taking a microdose every three days and is the one we recommend. The first day when you take the microdose, the effects will be most notable. The second day will also have noticeable aftereffects and the third day counts as rest to avoid the buildup of tolerance.
2. Paul Stamets’ system
Paul Stamets recommends taking a microdose every day for four days, followed by three days of rest to prevent tolerance. He also recommends including Lion’s Mane and Niacin in your microdosing regimen.
He recommends Lion’s Mane because it has the capacity to establish new neural pathways and to repair neurological damage, which Psilocybin can do as well. Niacin ensures the psilocybin molecules are properly distributed within the system.
Stamets believes that “this unique combination of compounds can be incorporated into other therapies with such combinations providing unique advantages for medically significant advancements in repairing neurons, removing amyloid plaques, improving mental health, cognition, agility, and improving overall the ecology of consciousness.”

It’s recommended to start on a day when you have no responsibilities, especially regarding work. This provides you the space to feel how the psilocybin works for you, especially when you’re still finding the right dose that works for you.
It’s possible that psilocybin can make you extra emotional, as it helps with finding relief and healing from unprocessed emotions. It’s important to remain conscious of this and to allow yourself the time and space to process if anything comes up.
Some people prefer to microdose at home while others enjoy being in nature. Experiment and see what works best for you.
It’s best to take the capsule on an empty stomach. Most people prefer to take their microdose in the morning, but others feel it’s better at night. Psilocybin can give a lot of energy, so there’s a possibility you’d have trouble sleeping if you’d take it at night.
It’s okay to take the capsule with food but it’s best to avoid a lot of fat, which can diminish the effects.
If you’d prefer a smaller dose than the amount contained within the capsule, you can open it up and take however much you’d prefer in water, tea, juice or food. Less can be more sometimes.
If you’re taking any SSRI antidepressant medications, it’s best to leave three hours in between the microdose and your medication.
Keeping a journal can be very beneficial as you’re finding the right dose, to record the effects. It can also help with processing emotions or to open the creative flow for new ideas and sparks of inspiration to flow through.
When you feel comfortable with the effects after experimenting, you can implement it in your routine while continuing with your daily tasks and responsibilities.
Are there interactions with psilocybin?
Psilocybin is a potent serotonin agonist, so it’s better to avoid if you’re taking any medications which alter the serotonin system such as SSRI antidepressants.
Psilocybin should not be mixed with pain medications such as Tramadol which can lead to serotonin syndrome.
Please do not mix psilocybin with amphetamines or recreational drugs.
Psilocybin could possibly increase the effects of cannabis.

James Fadiman shares an important precaution about microdosing:
“We specifically do not recommend that people with colorblindness, who live with diagnoses of psychotic disorders or along the autism spectrum try microdosing. People with colorblindness report lasting visual distortions from microdosing. Literature suggests people with psychotic disorders may be harmed by psychedelics. In our experience, people with diagnoses along the autism spectrum seem to require dosages that far exceed what is traditionally considered microdosing.”
