Let’s plan a party!

At MindLife Success’ “Let’s Plan a Party” programme, children as young as 4 years old are learning that good party celebrations don’t just happen. As with many things in life, we need a system and a method.

What’s in a party?

First, we have to understand what’s in a party. Children are thought to recognise the different parts to the party such as the food, decorations, presents, friends, games, etc.

What happens before and after the party?

Now as mentioned, these things do not just happen. Good prior preparation is important for the success of the party. Before the party can take place, we have to plan the games, go shopping for the food, decorations and presents, and invite our friends!

Now let’s not forget about what happens after the party! We should help in the cleaning up, and convey our thanks to our friends for coming and for any presents they gave.

Oh, we also learn about where the different items for the party can be bought, leading our lesson on towards the teaching of financial literacy.

Project planning is simple when you can break it down, recognise the different things needed to be done at different times, as well as the relationships between the steps across time.

As Albert Einstein once mentioned, ‎”If you can’t explain it to a 6 year old, you don’t understand it yourself.”

We took it further down to the 4 year olds.
